Trying to write in English

In order to apply for a spouse visa, the UK Border Agency now require people applying for a spouse visa category to pass an English exam at A1 level which is just a basic knowledge of the English Language.  As I will be applying for the said category soon, i need to take some kind of exam to satisfy the UK Border Agency that I can understand English pretty well, use the English language in everyday life..even if it's just basic, and that I can communicate effectively.

So here I am, trying very hard to rummage through  the web to find some useful tool to help me improve my English.  I found one site that says "read novels" and "start writing".  I guess I haven't read much since I left Philippines.  The last book I read was Beautiful Darkness and I finished reading that novel using just my mobile phone.  I really don't feel like reading novels using laptop or computer.  I prefer books.  You can read a book while sitting, eating, smoking, drinking coffee, or doing your bowels.  I like reading that way.  It is the most comfortable way of reading for me.  So I put a check mark on that tip which means that I'll be reading novels in my most hated way of reading --- using my laptop.  With regards to writing however, I am a writer.  I love writing.... the problem is ....  I love writing using my National Language.  I can't seem to give life to a story or poem unless it's written in Filipino..

So what do I do now?

Here I am again,  sitting in front of my laptop,  carefully writing, not exerting as much effort as to kill myself from nosebleed from trying to write in English.  Damn!  This is becoming troublesome every minute.  I want to scream Ha! Ha! Ha!

Am I making any sense here?

Oh well... *deep sigh

I think I'll be needing someone to practice this English thing with.  *sigh (again)
